When is the best time to Workout?
Okay so the question is, should exercise be done at a specific time of the day and does it affect my results?
The best answer I can give to this question is very simple, and will be different for every one of you reading this.
“The most ideal time to exercise is at a time that suits you”
Exercising first thing in the morning versus at the end of your day isn’t going to have an impact on the results you are trying to achieve.
In fact the only reason why your results would be affected is because you miss your workout all together, which is usually because you either planned it at a time that didn’t work for you or it wasn’t a priority.
There is no point in trying to go against your personal preferences when the end result will be the same.
If you are a morning person and love to train as soon as you’re up, then do it. If you prefer to hit snooze, and do your exercise after work, then do that. If you are night owl and prefer to go for a run in the middle of the night, then stick to that.
Your goal and the most important factor to remember is to create consistency in your training and a routine you can do with minimal interruptions. That means choosing a time that you enjoy doing and that fits into your lifestyle.
You also need to MAKE THE TIME for exercise and prioritise it. If you just wait until you have the time, then you never will. Schedule your workouts or the time’s you can exercise and don’t let anything stop you from doing it.
Sometimes I will recommend for clients, usually anyone who doesn’t have a preference to exercise first thing in the morning. This is simply because once you’ve done your workout, it’s done for the day and nothing can get in the way. Exercising in the morning can also be beneficial as it helps improve your energy levels, mood and decision making when it comes to food for the rest of the day.
